Fibre, protein, a grade or an ingredient list. Each family is here for one of them, and the panel is where we settle it.

Makhana fills by volume rather than by protein, so fibre is the figure that carries it. Off the printed panel.
Roasted in a coat of oil, not dropped in a fryer. The panel declares it; we are not inferring it from the process.
Suta is the grading unit and 6 suta is the largest grade grown. You can see it through the glass before you open the jar.
The label names the oil. Most labels say “edible vegetable oil” and stop there.

Out of the grain itself. Jowar is sorghum, and nothing was added to lift the number.
Also the grain. A puff that is mostly air still carries 8 g per 100 g.
Baked - not deep fried, and not roasted either. Both flavours come out of an oven.
Rice bran and olive oil, as a coat rather than a bath. The panel reads zero.

The highest protein figure on any of our ten panels. A whole bean, roasted - not a formulation built to reach a number.
Thirteen and a half grams, off the same printed panel as the protein.
Nothing sweet goes in. The flavour is desi masala, achaari or salt and pepper.
Roasted, and the oil is named on the pack. All three flavours declare zero.

Dates, almonds, cashews, pistachios. No binder and no syrup - nothing holds it together but itself.
Added sugar reads zero. The 23.1 g of total sugar on the panel is the dates themselves.
Under 60 mg per 100 g, which is roughly three per cent of a day.
The one figure in the range that is not zero. It is 0.1 g, so 0.1 g is what the panel prints and what we print.
Two processes
Not a brand against a brand. One way of cooking a snack against the other, and what each one can print.
No brand is named here and no competitor’s figures are quoted: the right-hand column describes deep frying as a process, and a dash means we do not speak for anyone else. Nine of our ten panels print 0 g trans fat; Date Bites prints 0.1 g.
Per 100 g, as printed
Two of the ten, set out in full. The bar behind each figure is its share of the FSSAI daily value, so you can see the shape of the thing without doing the arithmetic.

The plant
Makhana is the seed of a water lily. A spined, cleft pad that lies flat on standing water and sends its flower up through the surface beside itself. Almost nobody who eats the seed has seen the plant.

Quoted, not summarised

Ingredients: makhana, olive oil, Himalayan pink salt.

Fibre is the stronger number: 11.2 g per 100 g. It fills you up by volume, not by protein - and if protein is the point, the edamame is the jar.
Read itA grade, measured in suta. 6 suta is the large seed: thinner shell, cleaner snap.
Read itJowar baked, makhana roasted in olive oil. Nine of the ten panels we print read 0 g trans fat.

Vedic Crunch is an Indian snack brand built on one rule: the site has to say exactly what the pack says. We make roasted makhana, baked jowar puffs, roasted edamame and date bites: ten products in total, made in four FSSAI-licensed plants that we name on every batch. The company behind the brand is Aarogyumm Nutri LLP, Pune.
Makhana is the seed of the prickly water lily, grown in ponds and harvested by hand, then popped with heat until it opens. It is also called phool makhana, fox nut or lotus seed. It is naturally low in fat and high in fibre, 11.2 g per 100 g on our panel, and we buy only 6 suta, the large grade, which pops thinner and snaps cleaner.
The back panel of Desi Masala Edamame reads 42.1 g of protein per 100 g. That is higher than paneer and higher than most protein bars, and it is a whole bean rather than a formulation. Nothing has been added to raise the number. It comes in three flavours: Desi Masala, Achaari Twist and Salt & Pepper. The front of all three jars carries a 40.5 g roundel; the panel is the figure we publish, and the nutrition page shows the working.
Nothing in the range is deep fried. The jowar puffs are baked; the makhana and the edamame are roasted in olive oil or a rice bran and olive oil blend. Every product we make declares 0 g of trans fat on its nutrition panel. Date Bites is four ingredients with no binder and no syrup, and the 23.1 g of sugar on its panel is the dates themselves.
Every product page carries the full nutrition panel as it is printed, the complete ingredient list in order, the net weight, the barcode and the FSSAI licence number of the plant that made it. Where a panel has not yet been transcribed, we say so rather than filling the gap with a claim.
